In addition to that, my personal peeve about 'periodicity' also extends to
speech and conversation. Not only can bad garb (i.e., an 'unreasonable'
attempt) kill the atmosphere of an event, but so can conversations that
are still firmly rooted in the modern world. Obviously we can't be
authentic in this regard (unless we all go out and learn medieval English,
French, Spanish, etc), but as far as I am concerned, wearing garb is only
a part of the experience. [0] I know a lot of people aren't into playing
personae, and that's fine, but I think a lot can be done to keep modern
conversations at a minimum without having to do roleplaying. Of course,
if you are into persona development, that's definitely fine!
