Please feel free to cross post...Callista, Seneschal An Tir
Greetings:
Over the past several months the Board of Directors has received numerous
allegations of violations of Society and Kingdom laws by Harvey Palmer,
Count Aveloc the Younger. Per existing corporate policy, the Board directed
the office of the Society Seneschal to investigate these allegations. Also
per corporate policy, the Society Seneschal immediately informed Mr. Palmer
that he was the subject of an investigation by her office, which he
acknowledged.
Upon completion of her investigation, the Society Seneschal prepared a
detailed list of allegations and that list was sent to Mr. Palmer with the
explanation that these were serious matters. While it is understandable
that the membership wants to know the specifics of the allegations, for
legal reasons it is the Board's policy to share these only with the person
under investigation.
It was requested of Mr. Palmer that he respond in writing to the
allegations, which he did.
After receipt of the written responses, the Board received from Mr. Palmer
a request for an in-person meeting with the Directors, so that he could
present additional information. The Board met privately with Mr. Palmer at
the January 19, 2002 quarterly meeting in Portland, Oregon, where he
presented his statement.
Upon review of the allegations and Mr. Palmer's responses, the Board of
Directors of the Society for Creative Anachronism, Inc. voted to revoke and
deny the membership of Mr. Harvey Palmer. The vote was unanimous.
Although revocation and denial of membership precludes an individual from
attending or participating in any SCA events or activities, it most
certainly does not affect lawful actions taken while King of An Tir, such
as the granting of awards, titles, warranting of officers, or other
administrative actions.
The Board of Directors is aware of the controversy surrounding this action.
It is their earnest hope that the Kingdom and people of An Tir will soon heal.
Sincere regards,
The SCA, Inc. Board of Directors
