<< overhead expenses for your business include site fees occasional merchant
fees, wear & tear on vehicle i.e. mileage, and any display tables or racks
you might need.>>
Now that's nit-picking, to include site fees, hotel costs exc.... Into your
cost per unit is taking advantage of the consumer. These count as loses yes,
but you would probably be there regardless that you were merchanting or not,
and to include car maintenance? Oh I see, I should have to pay 10 or so
dollars extra because a merchant from the other side of the known world
wishes to road trip it all the way to a local event?
<<I personally would rather pay $60 - 80 for a well done shirt than $30-40
for a mediocre shirt.>>
I am a merchant for, at the present, non-SCA events, I never understood why
if you could make the same goods w/ the same materials why charge two
different prices because one wishes to skimp on thread, or shave a few
minutes in producing each piece, If you are going to make something to sell
do it correctly or don't make it in the first place. I personally wouldn't
wish to buy any mediocre garb, for any price. But paying 60+ dollars for garb
because someone wishes to recoup the price of tolit paper used during their
last event...
