The Virginia Tech Early Music Ensemble, under the direction of John Raymond
Howell, will be performing a program of "Music of Love, Faith, and
Fellowship" this coming Sunday, February 24th, at 3pm in the Recital Salon
of the Squires Student Center on the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg
(campus map: http://www.unirel.vt.edu/map/map.overall.html, lower left).
The program includes vocal and instrumental pieces from the 15th, 16th, and
17th centuries.
The Early Music Ensemble is not a set group of people but rather part music
class and part community participants, so experience levels range from those
with years, to upper level students, to those who just picked up this
particular instrument for the first time, this semester. Where available
they use period style instruments.
To sweeten the deal, Black Diamond's heavy and rapier practices are also on
Sundays, noon to 4pm on the Tech campus, downstairs in the War Memorial Gym
in poor weather and on the drill field in front of the gym if the weather
permits. Archery runs from 2-4, in the Dance room in the gym. Something
for everybody!
