Sufficient....no.... let's take the next step. I say we alternate
Crowns Tourneys between Heavy Weapons and Rapier.
Let's have a dashing Rapier King/Queen on the throne.
Rapier fighters are people too... ::: sniff ::: ( Do I hear a
chorus of Ban the Fencers? ) =) Yeah.... that's a great idea.
Let's petition the BOD to make it a requirement in all Kingdoms.
"Equality for all fighters!", will be the cry. No more wire weenie or
stick jock jokes, just one big happy, clanking, lace wearing
family.

After all, can't we all just get along.

Howdy!

Alesia raises the potential spectre of a king of Atlantia changing
kingdom law to permit a "war crown" tourney format. Implicit in the
presentation is that this would be a Bad Thing.

I do not comprehend how this would be, per se, a Bad Thing. Logan,
in particular, and Colin have articulated their position on this. I
do not suggest that they are wrong or foolish or stupid; we will just
have to agree to disagree. Personally, I am not sure whether such an
alternate format would be a Good Thing or not.

However, I am quite adamant that the Board of Directors ought not be
micro-managing this matter. Is it not sufficient to insist that Crowns
be contested by heavy weapons combat only?

The spectre raised would unquestionably be contrary to Atlantian
tradition (and the common practice nearly everywhere in the SCA).
However, is our game so insecure and fragile that it could not stand
even the suggestion that modifications to the format of a Crown
Tournament be considered? I don't think so.

Herveus
