 Granted this does not address the issue
of becoming King through rapier - that would take a major change in the
entire premise of the SCA - it is also, not to be sexist, but why we have
Queen's and consorts - to moderate the rule of the heavy fighter.

M'lady,

The current Queen of Meridies fought in the same Crown tournament which her
husband won.  She will be leading her army on the field at Gulf War.  While
relatively few ladies have won Crown tournaments, it has happened.  More often
the queen herself is also a heavy fighter.  I don't see the purpose of the
queen/consort to moderate the ruler that put him or her or their throne. The
job of the consort seems much larger than that to me.  The phrase "not to be
sexist" doesn't change the fact that your statement was, as well as somewhat
disparaging to heavy figthers in general.
