Howdy!
Alesia raises the potential spectre of a king of Atlantia changing
kingdom law to permit a "war crown" tourney format. Implicit in the
presentation is that this would be a Bad Thing.
I do not comprehend how this would be, per se, a Bad Thing. Logan,
in particular, and Colin have articulated their position on this. I
do not suggest that they are wrong or foolish or stupid; we will just
have to agree to disagree. Personally, I am not sure whether such an
alternate format would be a Good Thing or not.
However, I am quite adamant that the Board of Directors ought not be
micro-managing this matter. Is it not sufficient to insist that Crowns
be contested by heavy weapons combat only?
The spectre raised would unquestionably be contrary to Atlantian
tradition (and the common practice nearly everywhere in the SCA).
However, is our game so insecure and fragile that it could not stand
even the suggestion that modifications to the format of a Crown
Tournament be considered? I don't think so.
yours,
Herveus
