Whoa, put some brakes on the paranoia there Hrothgar! The BoD doesn't like
to waste its time with banishments. I know it sounds bizarre but do you
think they gleeful wring their hands awaiting the next victim? This whole
idea that "the BoD could, and would, do the same to the autocrat, troll and
any local group officers who were even peripherally involved" is just
fear-mongering.
The BoD does have someone to answer to, it answers to the people who care
enough to put them in power and to remove them from power. The BoD also
speaks with members of the Grand Council on a regular basis. Every BoD
member I know has been very willing to explain situations or proceedures to
you if you are interested.
By the way, just what power does the BoD really have? Theoretically, they do
have a few assests they could sieze. If we raise this much of a stink over
the banning of someone who has apparently been accused of some fairly
serious crimes, what do you think we would do as a group if it were just an
innocent bystander being banned? How long do you HONESTLY think the BoD
would stay in power?

If someone is R&D'd and they come to an event anyway, the BoD could,
and
probably would, do the same to the autocrat, troll, and any local group
officers who were even peripherally involved.
That seems like an awfully large amount of power for a small group of
people with only themselves to answer to.
