It's been my understanding for several years that most SCA merchants *do*
discount their wares for SCA events. Those that merchant full-time as
opposed to part of an economical weekend hobby also attend ren faires and
various festivals, cons, etc. where their prices are marked up, but when
attending an SCA function the prices come back down. At least that's the
way career merchants that I've known usually do business. The merchants
that have things I want that are out of my price range are usually the
master artisans whose wares are well worth the price, even if I can't
afford them.
Funny how all those master artisans that I'm so fond of reside in
Atlantia...what a pleasant coincidence! <grin>
