My apologies, milady, I should have been more specific. What I meant is
that these merchants offer discounts to "carded" members of SCA. This
would definitely be a tangible incentive for membership. If they are
already offering these discounts, they should advertise this, so that they
may reap the benefits thereof. I have yet to see any evidence of this on
any of ther merchant web sites I have visited. I realize that most small
businesses operate on a slender profit margin, but I believe that the
likelihood of increased sales due to such a discount (say, 5% or free
shipping, nothing grand) would off-set the decrease in income per sale.
