LOCHMERE BARONIAL BIRTHDAY

The Barony of Lochmere invites friends throughout the Kingdom and beyond
to
join us in celebrating our thirteenth birthday. We will enjoy a day of
fine
fall weather at the lovely St. Martins in the Field Church in Severna
Park,
Maryland, on September 29, 2001.

A unique tourney format will feature the teaming of armored and rapier
fighters, with some combat archery thrown in for fun! This format has
been
met with great enthusiasm and delight in the past. Their Excellencies
will
select Their Baronial Armored Champion from among the combatants, but
all
fighters are welcome to participate. Target archery will also be on
call
for the day.

For those gentles not inclined to the martial arts, Lord Michael
Surbrook
will be running the Crab & Coin, our local gaming establishment. He
invites
all who dare to come and try their hand at the tables!

An A&S competition will give artisans a chance to showcase their
ingenuity,
as well as honor the Barony. The theme, at Her Excellency’s whim, is
“Most
Creative Use of a Crab.” Everyone is encouraged to participate,
especially
“beginners;” and documentation, while encouraged, is not required.
Works in
progress are also welcome.

For the younger SCAdians in attendance, our gracious MoM, Lady Medb
ingen
Brain, will be hosting children’s activities throughout the afternoon
(starting after lunch). If you plan on having your little one(s)
participate, you must also plan to spend time helping out. In addition,
anyone wishing to volunteer their time or an activity, please contact
Lady
Medb ingen Brain (Lynda Assur) at (410) 674-7050 prior to 9:00 p.m., or
by
email at medbingenbrain at ix.netcom.com.

Those who stay for the evening will be treated to a delicious feast
prepared
by Sir Xenophon Vaughn, who is bringing his apron out of retirement for
this
event. Sir Xenophon is widely known for his prompt and marvelous
feasts.
You don’t want to miss this one!

For your pleasure, entertainment will be provided by the Lochmere Music
Guild and Laydes Fayre, an inter-baronial women’s music group. They
will
delight your ears with a variety of period music sure to please
everyone.

The site is discreetly wet, no pets are allowed on site, and NO flames
are
allowed in the hall. (Yes, this part is a change from previous years.)
The
site will open at 10 am, with authorizations beginning at 11 am. The
site
will close at 10 pm.

Reservations should be sent to the autocrat, Baroness Alisandra Bennett,
at
9706 Early Spring Way, Columbia, MD 21046.

Event prices: On-board: $10.00, Off-board: $5.00, Children 5 to 11:
$5.00
for on-board & $2.00 for off-board, and Children under 5 are guests of
the
Barony (although if they are going to occupy a seat at feast, they must
pay
the $5.00 fee). Make checks payable to “Barony of Lochmere/SCA, Inc.”

Questions, concerns, or special needs should be addressed to the
autocrat,
Baroness Alisandra Bennett (Melissa Petrak: mpetrak at hotmail.com,
301-362-0594), or the co-autocrat, Lady Cicilia Tironi (Tracy Mitchell:
tracy.Mitchell at getronicsgov.com, 410-772-5841). Please call before 10
pm.
