I wanted to also comment to the value of chivalry in the society and
anywhere that it is found. Many have stated in the debate about offering
assistance their many complaints and suggestions, but there is nothing so
wonderful as when all those wonderful intentions come together for the good.
I will speak of one good gentle who offered his assistance far before this
discussion began. At Pennsic I brought two women with me who had never set
up a pavilion before and one who was 61 years old and in poor health,
therefore unable to help. The pavilion was new to all of us and we were
having a great deal of difficulty figuring it out. Along came a man who ws
clearly eager to arrive at the field to enjoy a rapier practice that he had
scheduled. He saw our distress and abandoned his own plans and assisted us
for 7 hours until not only the pavilion was set up, but all the items that
went in it were safely stored. His name is Davio de la Rouge of Crannag
Moor and he seemed even more pleased to be of assistance to us than he would
have been on the field doing those things for which he had come to Pennsic
in the first place. I was even further surprised to find that this was his
first Pennsic and this was only the second day.
There are many times that people do not do the "right thing" but one such as
this who does the right thing can wipe out a multitude of others sins...It
would be nice if we could all do the same for others.
I remain in service to the Dream...
Fiona
