Okay, everybody, let's calm down. We're all on the same side. We all want
to receive messages that clearly and effectively convey our meanings, and we
all dislike scrolling through tons and tons of garbage.
Given the fact that AOL doesn't give its subscribers any choice and forces
them to send out HTML instead of text, and the fact that most of the
"offenders" are AOL subscribers, we need to exercise a little patience here.
AOL does give many of its subscribers capabilities that they cannot find, at
least easily, anywhere else. You and I may not feel we need those
capabilities, but obviously millions of other people do. AOL subscribers
are not likely to change to another ISP, because they like what they're
getting.
Now, if anyone has a clue how to turn off HTML in AOL, please respond to the
list and let us all know how. Then, in the future, when someone sends an
HTML message, we can write them privately and tell them how to turn it off.
Fair enough?
