I started out in Dagorhir way back in 1980 when I was in high school -- I
saw an ad in the paper, went to the field battle they described, and
signed up on the spot and went to my first battle a week later. It
was very cool, although back in those days things were still pretty crude
-- freon helms and the like, for those who wore armor, most swords were
still big and ugly and covered with duct tape and really *hurt* when they
were cold. But it was loads of fun, because our battles were in the
woods, and we'd fight in the woods even if it was snowing and 20 degrees
out. Dagorhir got its start in Montgomery County, MD (Roxbury Mill!) and
has spread all over. Unlike other live action role playing games,
Dagorhir still has (or did when I was in it) a very strong historical
aspect. I tried other groups and they were pure fantasy, like D&D --
still fun, but not the same for me.

I've run into guys I knew in Dagorhir at Pennsic -- they love fighting in
the woods battle at Pennsic, because they are very Dagorhir-like. I think
some of the Tuchux originally came out of Dagorhir. Not sure on that one.

I fell asleep reading a dull book, and I dreamt that I was reading on,
so I woke up from sheer boredom.
