Unto the Populaces of the Barony of Nottinghill Coill and the Fair Kingdom
of Atlantia does Tiarna Eoin O'hEochaidh send Greetings!

Dia dhuit!

I would just like to take this opportunity to update everyone on the
progress that Lord Arthur has made in his recovery from surgery and on the
state of the Fund.

Bear is doing better than expected. His surgical scar is healing faster
than the doctors had anticipated and the post-op bruising is practically
gone. It is only 2 weeks after surgery and he is almost back to full health
on that count. The prognosis is for a full recovery.

However good Bear's physical health is getting, the fact of the matter is
that they still do not have running water at the house. The estimate of
$1000 to repair this problem still stands, and they are nowhere near able
to afford this cost at this time. For that reason, we established the
Arthur of Lochlan Fund, so the good people of the Barony and Kingdom could
exercise their generosity and help a fellow SCAdian in need.

At last check, the Fund had a balance of around $350, $200 of whcih was
collected at Love Conquers All on 9/22. While the generous efforts of those
who have contributed already is greatly appreciated, this amount is not
going to cover the cost of the repairs. I would like to once again urge
anyone who has even a single dollar to spare to consider helping out in
this cause.

To make your assistance easier, we can now accept credit card payments
online through PayPal. If you already have an account there, I need not
tell you how convenient it is. For those of you who may not use the
service, it takes a mere handful of minutes to register for a FREE account
and then you will be able to make the online payments. If you would like to
contribute this way, then please go to

http://www.paypal.com

sign up for an account, and then send a "Service" type payment to me at

jdhoy at mindspring.com

Payments that are made to the PayPal account in this way will be deposited
into the Fund at Carolina First Bank. Please include the phrase 'Arthur of
Lochlan Fund' in the title of the message that accompanies the payment, as
well as your name (SCA and/or mundane) and address so that we may properly
thank you. If you would like, I can also send you a receipt for your
contribution.

Should you wish to contribute, but feel uncomfortable sending payments
online, there are other ways for you to add to the cause. First, you can go
to any Carolina First branch and make a deposit to the "Arthur of Lochlan
Fund", account number 8100732662. Or, you can send money by US Mail to me at:

Arthur of Lochlan Fund
c/o John D. Hoy
818 Rockwood Road
Columbia, SC 29209

Please make checks payable to "Arthur of Lochlan Fund". I will be
depositing any monies so recieved at the earlist possible time.

On behalf of Lord Arthur and Lady Bronwen, I would like to extend the
greatest of thanks and gratitude to all of you who choose to help.
Hopefully, once this crisis is passed, we will see your generosity duly
recognized and returned in appreciation a hundredfold.

Thank you again,

Tiarna Eoin O'hEochaidh
Administrator, Arthur of Lochlan Fund

>As you may know, Lord Arthur of Clann Lochlan, otherwise known as Bear,
has been debilitated recently with heart difficulties and is awaiting
placement of a pacemaker, automatic defribulator. He is due to be released
late this weekend. What you may not know is what he is returning home to.
Bear and his wife, Lady Bronwyn, have been without running water in their
home for more than a month now. Their home has well water and the pump is
shot. Also the bladder tank has now rotted out. Bear and Bronwyn have had
several quotes and the most reasonable one was for $1000 including parts
and labor. They are unable to shower at home, and have to transport via
gallon jugs, water from friends and neighbors. Because of Bear's
disability, I cannot forsee the financial ability to have this repaired on
their own.

>I feel that I come to you about this not as a SCAdian, not even as a
neighbor, but as a friend of those we have come to know and love. Anyone
who knows Bear and Bronwyn know that they are some of the most giving
people around, often going without so that their friends and loved ones
have their needs met. To give you an example, Bear has put many an
Atlantian Soldier on the field of battle solely with armor he financed and
made. A great number of us have been the recipients of their loving care
and now I am coming to you to ask for assistance in their time of need.

"Charity begins at Home". Knowing this, I have consulted with a Carolina
First Money Manager and have decided to start the "Arthur of Lochlan Fund".
This will be started through Carolina First Bank and as soon as we can get
the forms signed, the account will be opened.

math, 200 people contributing $5 each could have this problem solved. And
what is $5? The price of brown bagging one day's lunch and forgoing
McDonald's or Taco Bell to help a friend.

to assist can mail donations to me, Lady Alessandra Foscari or Tiarna Eoin
O'hEochaidh at my home address. C/O Michelle Williamson 918 West Lee Rd.,

are any questions. Please if sending a check make it payable to John Hoy,
as he will be making the deposits in Columbia. I'll reinform the list of
any changes once the account paperwork is done.
