My Neighbors,

The Atlantian 20th year celebration will be a showcase of all things Atlantian.
This is your 10 day reminder about the Poetry competitions. (with a listing
of the prizes.) As with all of the competitions I've held, The prizes will
be, in part, Period Manuscript leaves. Yep! That's correct. Text Leaves
actually printed in period. (i.e. over 400 years old. nope.. not reproductions.)

The first is a competition extolling the virtues of her Majesty Mary-Grace.
This can be in any form with period forms preferred. Documentation is a plus.

The second Competition will be for poetry about Atlantian History. Be creatuve
with this. It can be the whole history of our Kingdom, or any other small
selected piece of your choice. This can, also, be of any written form, poetry,
prose, or song. Again, period forms and documentation are a plus.

The prizes for these competitions will be among (there may be others as well!):
* Illustrated leaf from inque Canti Di Un Nunono Libro Dim Lodovico Ariosto"
Printed in Venice, By Francesco Rampazetto in 1570
* Leaf from "History of Scotland" A.K.A. Hogshead Chronicles (Shakespeare's
historical source) Printed in London, England by Iohn Harrison (et al) in 1587
* Leaf from "Orlando Furioso in English Heroical Verse by John Harrington"
Printed in London, England by Richard Field in 1591
(side note: Orlando was the actual name of Roland. The French changed it...)
* Text leaf from "Hakluyt, Richard, The Principal Navigation's, Voiages,
Traffiques and Discoueries of the English Nation, Made by the Sea of
Ouer-Land, To the Remote and Farthest Distant Quarters of the Earth."
(i.e. North America) Printed in London by: G. Bishop, R. Newberie and
  R. Barker in 1600

The third competition is for my successor, the next Poeta Atlantia.
As the Poeta is chosen for excellence in composition of poetry in at least two
period forms, Competing in this competition necessitates entry in both
Atlantian 20th year competitions using a different period form for each.

There are quite a few prizes for this competition:
* You're Poeta! What more could you ask for! (You even get a spot in the
Acorn if you're nice to Gwen.)
* The winning Poem (or the first page thereof) will be Illuminated by
Lady Tehair, a past Poeta herself.
* Text leaf from "Workes of Geffray Chaucer" edited by J. Stowe printed
in 1597. (I've been told that it is actually from a section of the
'Canterbury Tales' but I don't have it in my hands yet.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Atlantian 20th year celebration!

James
