[MR] not our Pennsic 30 Budget

what you are actually paying for is permission to be at pennsic. what is
done with that money is not really any of our business. you are paying for
entertainment. the coopers, and the sca for that matter, are not in the
business of charity, be it local or otherwise. we all have a right to
disagree with what the profits go to. and, if we disagree that vehemently
we all have a right not to go. $25,000 is hardly any large sum of money
(hell archadeck gave me an estimate of $21k for my deck plans, id hate it if
they built a fort/castle thingy).
the money is going to be well spent as it will build a permanent structure
for people to enjoy year round (sorta like charity i think). as it was
stated in the financial report that was published:
"The Pennsic Autocrats and the Pennsic Treasurer approved it, so the budget
was passed by a 2-1 vote. Let me stress this point: this is an approved
budget. Pennsic staff are already out making the expenditures needed to make
this event happen. There's not a question here of anyone making changes to
what's been approved."
the entirety of that budget can be viewed at:

for me personally i dont care what they do with my money. pennsic is easily
worth the hundreds of dollars i spend on it every year in vacation time
alone. now the real question is, "why does it cost $3.00 for a bottle of
water at the movies!?".

I care because it's about ethics in management and the
impression SCA gives to those around us. And it's my
funds that pay for my Pennsic fees that evidently are
paying for this.
I also care because I wonder whether it's money well
spent or money that could have gone as a contribution
to the needs of the local community.
Since my entrance fee is most likely helping with this
I have a right to ask.
