(SNIPPING HROTHOGAR'S MESSAGE:

(SNIPPED SOME MORE, SO THERE!!!)

Friends:
I am not claiming to be an authority on castle
building, but as I work in the construction industry
for a Architectural firm, I can tell you that
$25,000.00 for a structure, if similar to the one at
Gulf Wars, is really not that expensive.

As Hrothgar stated in a part of his post that I
snipped, it is suprising that more hasn't been done as
far as improvements to the site. (For example a new
water and sewage system...)

Taking in mind that the cost for the castle likely
includes the schematic design, generation of the
architectural drawings themselves, permits, and
required special inspections, the actual construction
and material costs, (including the adminstration of
that project) then $25,000.00 is a bargain.

The fact that SCA volunteers are doing the majority of
the work insured this price for us. In the "Real
World, TM", I assure you that the project would be
substancially more expensive.

General improvements like this, (or a clock tower for
that matter), are in the best interst of the Owner,
the fighting community, and the Society. They increase
the value of the property, add to the overall Pennsic
experience, and help to cement our relationship with
Dave Cooper.

Thanks for reading. (I'm getting off my public soapbox
now and going off to a corner to rant off my
frustration with the state of the world in
general..uhhhh...I mean return to work, yeah, that's
it! ;0) )
