I'll do both.  First off, let me commend you to hie you down to one of the 
university libraries, like Newman, and find any and all Japanese name books 
by Dr Barbara Nostrand.  Known in the Modern Middle Ages as Solveig 
Thorandottir, she's the expert on names Oriental, especially Japanese, and 
does heraldry as well.  Excellent stuff in her books.  If you wish to
