	I guess I'll be the dissenting opinion here.  I'm glad the pay to play was 
lifted, and I'm happier to participate now that it is.  Paying membership 
becomes only sensible at a certain level of participation, and I doubt it 
really needs to be propped up by mandates.  Not having pay to play makes it 
easier for marginal participants to play in that event that happens to be 
really close or just their cup of tea.  In the long term I think more 
people will maintain some ties with the SCA, and not become ex-SCAdians, 
without pay to play or other unnecessary burdens.  I know there were 
several years when I was virtually inactive, when getting to play in one 
tourney would have been nice.  The dollar would have been reasonable for 
that privilege, while the $35 seemed steep.  Also, occasionally people who 
primarily play with other groups like to fight now and then with the 
SCA.  I doubt most of those benefitted are on this list anyway, but I am 
certainly a happier camper for the change.
