My Lord Husband and I have been card carrying members
since we started.  If one expects to "belong" to a
group, one should pay the dues or membership fees. 
Even if it means bypassing that luscious piece of
amber, I'm much more comfortable with my membership
card ready for show.  Besides, I'd miss out on my
Tournaments Illuminated, The Acorn, Moot Points...all
the fun stuff to read and learn from, holding an
official position, supporting our Barony, and
generally causing mayhem at events, and consternation
for our beloved Baron and Baroness.  That's why I
"joined" the SCA to have fun and satisfy a lifelong
interest with other folks of like mind.
