Safer precautions:
WOOL Blankets - they do a much better job of insulation, if you are sleeping
on the ground, put a thermal blanket under you.
Hot water bottles - my mom keeps the house ice cold (she's still on old oil
heat) $$$ so she uses these rubber hot water bottles that you fill with a
tea kettle, wrap in a towel and stick under the covers with you. They are
great.
