Digging for Vikings.

Last year two large Viking Age Silver Hoards were found in
house remains on Gotland. Apparently deposited over a number
of years. If you like news on such things:

I get the Viking Heritage Magazines they produce from Visby:

Viking Heritage Magazine
Subscription Fees 2001 / four issues
Sweden only 200 SEK
Denmark, Finland, Norway and the Baltic States: 210 SEK and 50 SEK
in Bank charges.

Other countries: 250 Swedish Kronor + 50 Kronor in Bank Charges.
Kronor are somewhere on the order of 10-11 U.S. cents each
or about thirty dollars U.S.

You -also- get a nice book (I didn't expect mine, it was a
surprise.) when you subscribe.
_Follow the Vikings. Highlights of the Viking World_
"It contains 50 of the most important destinations
in different countries, selected by an international group
of archaeologists and is richly illustrated in full color."
Of all the Viking books, and I have a lot, it's rather unique.

Viking Heritage, Gotland University, Cramergatan 3,
S-621 67 Visby, Sweden
Telephone +46 498 29 98 02.

I've been subscribed for several years. They are worth having
in my library. Sometimes the articles include unusual things like
the Viking Lenses or experiments with ship replicas.

They take Mastercard/Visa/Eurocard. Funds go to help
the archaeology folks maintaining the Viking Heritage Website
and promote articles on Viking material and culture worldwide.
Dan Carlsson and his folks have been doing the Frojel, Gotland
excavations. http://frojel.hgo.se/
Authentic jewelry reproductions may also be bought at this site,
which also contains a lot of information on artefacts like
beads for you glassworkers, etc. http://viking.hgo.se/

Contact Maj-Britt Andersson at majbritt at hgo.se if you'd
like to subscribe over the web.
