[Archers] ROYAL ARCHERY TOURNAMENT QUESTION - PLEASE READ

I tend to agree here with Master Jonathas. Practice is practice and if you are serious you will be out over the winter as many of us are unless it is a brutal one like this past winter was. I would like to see Lochmere go back to fall if at all possible. Also we have been over this in the past but if it needs to be a bit more than a year so be it, in past years I can remember a few times where the current winners had it longer than a year due to scheduling conflicts. With the recent changes in the number of event local groups can have, it might cause some issues, this is why we tied it to the Trial by fire event again in Bright Hills. It’s not after Pennsic but its close, otherwise our next chance would have not been until October which is already very full and already another archery event for us. I am in favor of leaving Royal in the Spring and Lochmere later in the year.

In service,

Janyn

I will agree that it would be nice to keep the various major shoots spread out. Traditionally Lochmere Arrow has been a fall event, this year I understand it ended up early due to scheduling but one year does not need to change its tradition.

As for Royal Archer, the reason it has traditionally been held in the spring/early summer rather then when most archers are at their true peek in the fall is because the kingdom wants to know who the best archer is going into Pennsic and the Archery Champions shoots. No matter when it falls those that want the title will find or make the time to practice so that they are in proper form going into the shoot.

Personally, I would like to see Royal Archer continue its tradition of being scheduled before Pennsic, and Lochmere Arrow be scheduled after Pennsic. But that is all at the whims of the current holders of each title and must work within the event scheduling requirements of the Kingdom Calendar.

Jonathas

Hello all,

Shortly after getting home and back to facebook, someone to remain unnamed sent me this private message on there. I wanted to post it here (It is at the bottom of this email) in an effort to gauge how many people agree and may or may not like to see a change. Please take a couple moments to read it and respond with your thoughts and opinions. Please feel free to respnd to me here, or if you want you can email me privately or send me private messages on Facebook, whatever you wish. I will be reading the responses for only a couple days however, because then I need to start the process of spiking the date so that my options do not all fill up, we all know how fast that can happen. Thank you all in advance for your opinions and subsequent discussion, they are much appreciated.

YIS,

Karl von Konigsberg

Royal Archer

"Hey man. Grats on winning again! BTW, would you please consider moving the next Championship to the fall? It takes longer to "get back" onto a recurve than an xbow after the winter. I think it would make it more competitive."

My immediate response to them was that I think part of the reasoning is to have one of our major shoots in the Spring (Royal Archer) and one in the Fall (Lochmere Arrow) so as to 'spread out the fun', but I told them I would at least consider it and so I am. Thank you.
