[Archers] Pennsic and Atlantian Archery

Its one of the reasons I didn’t want to be part of the Champs team this year. Slaughtering them repeatedly is not any amount of fun in my book. I would much rather have the close competition. Call me crazy….

I will share a brief discussion I had with one of the prime range marshals at Pennsic this year. Those who have been to the archery range at Pennsic in past years and particularly been part of the Champion’s Shoot know of the intense competition between the East and Mid. For many of us, this has been a major downer to archery at Pennsic. My personal feeling is if you win by one point you won and neither side feels bad. I see no reason to totally stomp the competition, the perspective in past years. As a friend from Trimaris who was frustrated with the rapier community there once said to me “This is a hobby. When it is no longer fun I will take myself and my money and go elsewhere.” Those who kept this intense competition between the Mid and East have moved on and been replaced by others who see no need to continue that feeling. There will always be frustrations setting and running a range at Pennsic due to size and multiple kingdoms, but Godric, East, left me with the impression that he feels the thought process of old is out and a process of getting along in a friendly competitive environment is the new norm.

I personally welcome it! It’s a better fit for the archery community.

Well, having returned from retaining duties at Court over the last 2 years (and getting decent exposure to other actvities and groups) I have to say that we don't fully appreciate how lucky we are. Atlantia Archery is *very* inclusive, low drama, low maintenance and casual compared to the rest.

I know we sometimes wish Kingdom would show us more love, but being "away" out on the back 40 has its advantages too! :)

Cheers

Fen

Atlantian Archery. Nothing exists within 100 yards without our permission.
