Thought I'd pass this along....don't know if anyone has heard of homemade Saunders mats.  I'd just use bales of hay.

There is a gentle in a neighboring Kingdom that is looking to make his own Saunders Mat type target (purchasing one is cost prohibitive)...
I have never heard of anyone I know making their own round target like that, but it seems long ago I vaguely remember someone talking about this very thing?
 
Has anyone out there ever made, or heard of one being made?  A preliminary google search did not turn up anything.
