I believe what COG was referring there there, are the number of ally
slots in total.

Traditionally, the teams are of 30 people.  20 principal kingdom, and 10
ally slots.

One year (one glorious year, that reverted afterward *sigh*) ... They
got the rules changed, so instead of 2 teams of 30 competing.  It was 4
teams, each size 20.  East, Mid, East Ally, Mid Ally.

So East Ally (as we were that year) got 20 slots.  I know well, because
the East Marshal in charge came to me that year, told me I was in
charge, because he didn't want any input on the team makeup, because he
was considering the East Allies as his main competition, and wanted a
fair competition :)

Even then, still then, politics played a role however.  As the King of
the East, and their Majesties of AEthelmearc (who I knew well, it was
Tessa), had made an agreement that 3 specific members of AEthelmearc
would be on the team.

IIRC, Atlantia had 14 members on the team that year.  4 went to
AEthelmearc, Two to Ealdormere.

That was a good year :)
