Maybe mix it up..the best of each class, i.e. Crossbow, Longbow, Period bow
and Recurve.

Ah a challenge! But we won't have to wait till next year. This is about
holding shootoffs at local events.

Its 4:45pm. The populace is gathering chairs and waiting for their baronial
court to start up, when....

A flurry of motion behind them. They turn to observe several gentles setting
up a balloons and clay pidgeons.

A Herald appears: "Good Gentles, for your entertainment, the Final Four of
today's archery shoot!"

If you are going to MIC archery this year, think about working this in.

Cheers

Fen

I love the idea too! Seems we need a Herald type who can call to the crowd
what's going on too....like a baseball game or something. We can certainly
suggest the showy final idea to our Champions...but....Siegfried,
Fen......you know what you have to do to run the Atlantian Archery
Competition just the way you want to....

:-)

But you'll have to beat ME next year.

Actually Fen, I was thinking the same thing. Traditionally for the
shootoff at Royal Archer, we just reuse a number of targets that we have
laying around. Not specifically pick/choose targets for show.

And the same thing crossed my mind at the shootoff there, while watching
it, I realized that some targets were pretty obvious (snakes, lollipops,
balloon). Others you couldn't tell.

If specifically setting up such a shoot for 'show'. Then it would be
good to have all the targets be 'immediately obvious' when they are shot.

This would mean to me:

* Balloons
* Clay Pidgeons
* Ground targets (that knock over)
* Other 'knock down' targets (Seamus' line of heads comes to mind)
* Blow the squishy ball through the hole target

I'd suggest things like the lollipops as well, because they are obvious
when shot. However, they are only obvious when you see them be hit.
AFterwards (if you lose your place), you can't tell.

So anyway, we could still set up a pretty gnarly shoot with different
kinds of targets/etc. But just make sure that all of them are 'obvious
when hit'

Then everyone will be on the edge of their seat for the whole shoot :)
