My Lords and Ladies, PRAY ATTEND!
Pennsic is fast approaching and I hope you are all readying yourselves
to attend. It is a time of fighting, fun both on and off the field, and
time spent with friends from both near and far, old and new. And as
this will be the 40th Pennsic, it promises to be memorable!
Atlantia is renowned for its dominance on the fighting field, and that
"With Atlantia, so goes Victory in the War". However, equally
recognized is Atlantia's dedication to Service. Therefore, as you
prepare yourselves to serve your Kingdom and Monarchs on the field, I
would ask you to also consider giving some of your time to serve them as
Retainers off of the field.
The duties obligations of the King and Queen are many and varied at War,
and the many hands of Retainers help to make their tasks all the
easier. Experience is not required, and the work is enjoyable and
enlightening, as you are able to glimpse into what is required of those
persons who wear the Crown. And as more and more of us step forward to
serve, the time required by a person to serve will grow less and less.
And let me assure you, time flies when you serve!
I ask all of you, from the newest member of our Kingdom to our longest
standing members, be you a fighter or Duke, novice or Master, Scholar or
Provost, to come step forward and Serve your Crown and Kingdom, and by
doing so give example to all other Kingdoms of the Greatness that is
Atlantia!
Her Excellency, Countess Kalissa, is calling out for persons to give
service Saturday, August 6 through Friday, August 12. Shifts shall be
approximately 4 hours long: 8 am -12 pm, 12 pm - 4 pm, 4 pm - 7 pm, and
7 pm - 10 pm. Those hours may vary depending on the day and obligations
of the Crown, and these shifts may be shortened if many of us step
forward to assist, as I know we shall.
You may reach Her Excellency at scakalisa at yahoo.com , and when you
contact her please include the following information:
-Day(s) you are available to retain
-Which part of the day(s) is most convenient for you
-Any past retaining experience
-A cell number (if any) that you can be reached at during war
-Your location for camping (ex: I camp with Allied Households at N32)
-When you will be arriving at Pennsic
Thank you all, and I look forward to seeing you at Pennsic!
Very Respectfully,
Baron Christopher MacConing
P.S Please forward this missive to all regional and Order Lists.
