I appologize if my opinions (and they are only mine, your mileage may vary) came across as strong. 

I do feel strongly about the subject. We have so many activities that require specific knowledge in order to hold them - 

Equestrian
Heavy and Rapier
Childrens Activities
Seige
Combat Archery
A&S
Target Archery

To expect that our event planners should have at least a working knowledge of what is required, or make sure they find out, should not be unreasonable.
