[Archers] Age restrictions on the archery range

Thank you for sharing this; however, the application is not 100% accurate.

It was determined (and I have an email around here somewhere) by SCA
Legal council, that this ruling only applies to "Officers in a position
that by it's nature is SPECIFICALLY dealing with Youth"

This means. That any Chancellor of Youth, Pages Academy official or
Youth Combat marshal, must have this check. (And note that the
requirement of the check has nothing to do w/ chaperoned or not
participants. It's a case of: "The SCA is saying that you are 'in
charge of youth', therefore, you better be able to pass a background check")

This does not apply to situations where youth and adults are intermingled.

Such as in A&S settings, or yes, specifically excempt, an Archery Range
where youth and adults happen to both be on the line.

The point being, from a legal standpoint. That an Archery Marshal is
not being warranted to 'be in charge of youth'. They are warranted by
the SCA as an archery safety officer.

The only gray area, is if/when a specific 'Youth Shoot' or 'Youth Range'
is created, such as at Pennsic. And last I heard, that was still gray area.

In Hopeful Service,
Siegfried
