<DIV>Greetings, generous members of the Barony of Ponte Alto!</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>This is a reminder and further details of our demos scheduled for March 28
at Stenwood Elem. I will be sending two messages about this, each with
slightly different focus because we basically have two demos here on
Wednesday. If you are also able to join us or need directions, please call
me at (703) 264-0072 or e-mail me at <A
href="mailto:sorchadeglys@att.net">sorchadeglys@att.net</A> as soon as you can.

<DIV>Here are the details for the fighting demo:</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>
<DIV>**1:15 to 2:15 - Children process into cafeteria and eat their
"feast". We are invited to sit and eat or wander among the
children.</DIV></DIV></DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>**2:15 to 2:45 - Fighters: Please ARRIVE early enough to be
ready to START at 2:15. The demo will be in the cafeteria on armor
and fighting styles of rapier and rattan. We hope to include other
topics related to fighting such as the development of heraldry, lady's
favors and boys' lives as squires/pages. We will be presenting to the
5th grade, so there will be approx. 50-60 students present. While they
feast, we can armor/set up along the wall with windows. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>Expected attendees:</DIV>
<DIV>Kevin of Thornbury (armor, sword and shield fighting)</DIV>
<DIV>Marcellus Capoziello da Napoli (and 4 or 5 other fighters for
rapier demonstration)</DIV>
<DIV>Nostas'ia Stepanova (support)</DIV>
<DIV>Whoever else would like to stay over from the previous demo</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>As you can see, we are in need of someone to fight Kevin of
Thornbury! If you know of anyone available for this hour of the day,
please encourage them to show their support. </DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>
<DIV>Stenwood Elementary is located next to the Dun Loring Metro Station. You
can find a map on-line at: <A

(Thanks, Marcellus!) Again, thank you all for your support and I hope to
see you all there on Wednesday.</DIV>
<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>There is a demo on the non-fighting part of the SCA earlier in the
day. Information for this demo can be found at the end of this
missive.</DIV>

<DIV> </DIV>
<DIV>**12:30 to 1:15 - Life in the Middle Ages Demo<BR>Please ARRIVE at
12:15. Life in the Middle Ages (w/o fighting) demo in the<BR>gym including
aspects of childhood and a "show and tell" of various items of<BR>life (i.e.
clothing, calligraphy and illumination, spinning and weaving,<BR>musical
instruments, other "peaceful arts".)<BR><BR>We will be presenting to both the
5th and 6th grade, so there will be<BR>approx. 100 students present at the first
demo. I have requested some<BR>chairs and two tables. One for
Allasondrea's musical instruments and one<BR>for any calligraphy/illumination
scrolls that you can bring to display. We<BR>intend to have the
calligraphy table set up by the door so the kids can see<BR>it on their way in
and out, but NOT touch! This way, before/after you hold<BR>them up during
the demo, they can see them up close.<BR><BR>This is a 45-minute demo, so each
section will have to be kept short. Kevin<BR>of Thornbury will be
coordinating the demo if I cannot make it due to work<BR>constraints. I
will give him my "demo in a basket" to use as a resource for<BR>items to pass
around. Feel free to use it as long as everything is<BR>collected and
returned. Below is a list of who is expected to arrive and<BR>what they
are bringing to show/talk about:<BR><BR>Kevin of Thornbury (coordinator,
misc.)<BR>Allasondrea (calligraphy and musical instruments, music on
tape/cd)<BR>Gwendolen ferch Cadwaladr ap Rhys (garb, misc.)<BR>AElfwyn of Whitby
(drop spinning and tablet weaving, Viking garb)<BR>Caitlyn
(embroidery)<BR>Feline von Behren (misc.)<BR>Muireann ni Riordain (calligraphy,
garb)<BR></DIV></DIV></FONT></DIV></BODY></HTML>
