It's time for our July meeting, folks. Thanks for coming out in June for our annual pilgrimage to the Irish Pub.Though the potential venues for meetings have shrunk to some extent, perseverance has paid off and I've found a new place to try.

We have a private room, so we'll give it a whirl. Named for the George Mason University team, the restaurant boasts a lot of cooking from scratch. Wings can be served bone-in or boneless, cooked to order in 3-4 different flavors. Similarly, they make their own meatballs, and their own pizza dough. Even potato skins are made fresh.

The restaurant opens at Noon, so if you get to the area early, go to the Fairfax Central Library down the street and check out the salute to UFOs for the month of July with a small but thoughtful book display near the information desk. It's a modest effort, but a surprise that the library made this effort at all. They assured me it would be up all Saturday. I've got a few pics of this to show. If you want to swing by the Library, it's open 10-6.

FEATURED SPEAKER: MIKE KLOSTERMAN, Chief Investigator for VA
Our main speaker will be Mike Klosterman. As many of you know, Mike is an astronomer at a small observatory in central VA, in addition to his day job.  
Part 1 ~ Mike will be discussing Exoplanets: discovery, methods, latest status and how amateur astronomers like himself are contributing real data from backyard observatories. He will show some actual data they collected on an E xoplanet and how it advances our understanding of these distant worlds.
Part 2 ~ (This lecture will be at a future time.) Mike will continue his deep dive into space science with how planets form (including Exoplanets) and a basic discussion on Astrochemistry/Astrobiology and how the origin of complex organic molecules give rise to life.

AGENDA
The meeting will begin at 1:00 with my introductory remarks regarding the recent DoD & Director of National Intelligence report on UAPs/UFOs. Yes, this has been covered to death, so I'll keep it short with some additional details we all may have missed. Next, I'll highlight what we anticipate at the 2021 International MUFON Symposium titled, UAPs: Military and Government Witnesses Speak OUT! coming up August 27-29 in Las Vegas, NV.

Next, we'll have Aerospace Engineer, Lloyd Franklin give us a brief overview of the annual conference he recently attended called Spacefest, held in Tucson. The conference claims to be "Bringing Space to Earth" while featuring space art, memorabilia, and a few astronauts. Lloyd says it's a fun-filled event with both serious and light-hearted aspects.



After a brief break, Mike Klosterman will take center stage as we buckle up for a discussion of Exoplanets, which are planets outside of our solar system. You know, when I was young, I was shocked to learn that scientists had not mathematically proven nor observed a single Exoplanet! What? I thought that was an assumed "given" out there in the universe, right? Billions and billions and all that stuff (with apologies to Carl Sagan). Mike will inform all of us on the timeline of man's discovery of Exoplanets, the role of amateur astronomers and what it really means for the human race.
