[Ponte Alto] Quarterly call for A&S Information, and deputies

Played dance tunes from Playford and Arbeau for several hours as "musak" for Medieval days at Steppingstone Farm and Museum sponsored by the good folk of Bright Hills.

Taught many modern visitors how to dance Horses Bransle at the same event. Yes, even sweaty fighters can handle that one. In armor, Kirik showed several little boys (of the girls-have-cooties age) that men do dance .... double forward, double back, face your partner, paw, paw, step to the sword, turn to the shield, watch (or pointedly don't watch) the ladies spin and repeat.

Oh yeah, Kirik fought rattan at Stepping Stones and spent a lot of time with kids explaining that honorable behavior is required in addition to some level of skill with sword and shield.

Made new leg padding for Kirik's armor (silk outer layer). Earned a few blisters doing buttonhole stitch with waxed cord to reinforce lacing holes on the padding ... 14 per leg and 14 more to go on the other leg.

Began gathering stuff to make a great chess game ... could take years to finish so don't hold your breath.

Found and finished an old UFO, a child's Monmouth cap. Now I need to find a child to give it to. It's light taupe synthetic yarn and would probably fit a preschooler.

Wound warp onto about 70 cardboard looms for the lady teaching weaving at the Pennsic Children's Fete.

Was our pallio in the last 3 months? Replaced the stick and tidied up "Gus the wonder horse" who's survived 25 years of childish attention, the Valor tourney that was evacuated for tornados in Wichita, and Lillies wars with 70 mph straight line winds and Pavel being struck by lightning.

Also at the pallio event, played with Mistress Anne and the other awesome musicians of Ponte Alto. That was fun, thanks!

Regards,
Lisbet/Beth Schreiber (and Keith)

Apologies for the late notice, but I am working on my quarterly report for Arts & Sciences taking place in and by members of our barony. Please let me know what projects, research, classes, workshops, etc. you have been involved in for the past 3 months.

Remember, our not-for-profit status was granted because we are an educational organization. So the gaining and sharing of knowledge, in all aspects of medieval life, is relevant! Our reports show that we are, indeed, educating ourselves and others.

Also, I love being able to talk to people in our populace, and read about what makes them tick, what drives them to learn more and do better.

Yours in Service and Passion,

Lady Bevin
(mka Kristin S. Moran)
MOAS, Barony of Ponte Alto

P.S. I am actively seeking deputies, as Sigurd and Aine have migrated their active time to pursuits with the Barony of Stierbach.
