[Ponte Alto] leather

I contaced Tricks of the Trade.  He has downsized his business to basically leather repair.  There is a Tandy in Essex, MD.

As for shoes, that is mainly what I do.  If you want to have leather only soles, 6-8 oz because it will wear through faily quick.  I use 4-6 oz because I end up putting rubber soles on the shoes somewhee down the line.  The uppers can be thinner and more soft.  I use veg tan for soles and upholstery or chrome tan for uppers.

Ooo, sounds like a great mini roadtrip!

What size/weight/<insert descriptive here> would you recommend for making a

For anyone in Ponte Alto who wants to demonstrate their art w/o having it on display or having to have a finished project, please see the below email - there are only 2 days left to sign up.

If you are interested in how the Artisan's Row works, please ask.

Thanks!

Katharine

Subject: [Atlantia_AnS] 30-year Artisan's Row Preregistration

      Greetings, everyone,

I hope everyone who attended the Pennsic Wars had safe travels back

home this past week. I've just starting to recover, personally.

As Atlantia's 30-Year celebration approaches, it is time to think of

sharing peaceful arts (or at least sharing arts peacefully) at

Artisan's Row, so that we may spread our enthusiasm to new artisans

and learn new techniques from other craftspeople. Preregistration is

required, so that we can accommodate everyone's space needs, and there

are two more days left to preregister. You may do so at the website,

http://30year.atlantia.sca.org/asartisan.php

Thus far, I have 7 preregistered groups:

1. House Haakonstead (various arts, incl. beadwork, metalwork)

2. Brewer's Guild (brewing)

3. Katherine Devereaux (cooking)

4. James de Biblesworth (leatherwork)

5. Simona dell'Smore (bardic)

6. Annejke MacAiodh (painting)

7. Gwerfyl verch Aneirin (bookbinding)

If you believe you have registered and do no appear on this list,

please contact me immediately.

If you would like to share your work on Artisan's Row, please register

in the next two days. For example, we have no scribes, armorers, or

seamstresses represented, to name just a few. This is also a terrific

opportunity to show off the tools of your trade and even create a

small workshop.

Please contact me if you have any questions.

Best wishes,

Aneira
