[Ponte Alto] Archery needs your help!

Hi, sorry it took so long to get back to this, but I honestly don't check my email very often.  Yes we know about Bull Run.  We do use their indoor site during the winter, and as Caitlin mentioned it's only 20 yards.  Our Royal Rounds, which is used with our ranking system, uses 20, 30 and 40 yard targets - difficult to do when you only practice with 20 yard targets.

Bull Run does have an outdoor archery field, but the caretaker for the archery field teaches classes there and doesn't want to share the targets, etc.  We've tried talking to many different people and different ways of trying to share - including offering to use our own targets so that we won't chew up her targets, but it still won't happen.

This is why we're turning to Fairfax County and trying to get them to have a public archery field.  Thanks for the info though... we are definately looking for alternative places to shoot!

Dear Brigid and others,

Please forgive my ignorance, but I thought Bull Run had an archery range at one time. Has this already been investigated?

In service,

Hello to all SCA archers & friends of archers.
As many of you are aware, we are in dire need of an outdoor archery range for our archery practices.  We have been shooting at many places, but nowhere we can call "home".

We have been talking to the Fairfax County Park Authority about possibly getting them to open up an archery range within the Fairfax County Parks so that we can hopefully have a permanent archery site available to the public like they do in other counties (Needwood park for example).   We have been told that they are getting closer to making decisions for the park system.

I just got this email today and was hoping we could have help in 2 different ways:

1. go to http://www.fairfaxcounty.gov/parks/plandev/greatparks.htm#input , scroll down to the "RECREATION - PLAY YOUR WAY!" box and at the bottom of that box you'll see Share your thoughts on RECREATION.  If you could please click on this and fill it out the way you would like, but please put something about adding archery in the comments box.

2. Join us at the Listening Forum on Thursday, Nov 19th at 7pm in the Government Center room 4/5 to voice our need for space for a public archery program.

Thank you so much and PLEASE
at least fill out the comments for us!!
