[Ponte Alto] Dance Practice

I am pleased to announce that Jamie Roberts and I will be leading dance practices for the Barony of Ponte Alto.  

We have two objectives for the initial practices: first, to introduce new dancers to the basic steps and principles necessary to execute period dances, and second, to prepare them for the upcoming Twelfth Night's Tudor Ball, which will be held January 10 in Stafford, Virginia.  The first few practices will teach several concepts which will build upon previous concepts, so I encourage dancers to attend as many practices as they can, however practices are built so even new dancers can pick up in the middle if they miss something.  Although the initial dance practices are designed for new dancers, I encourage participants of all levels to join us as we establish a dance community within Ponte Alto.

If you would like to join dance practice, it will be held after Heavy Weapons Practice, from 5:00 to about 6:30 pm, at the same location as their practice.  Due to the upcoming holidays, we have chosen specific dates for practices, listed below.

Please wear comfortable clothing and either the shoes you would wear to a period ball, or thick-soled shoes for outdoors practices.   Ladies, if you own a farthingale which you plan to wear for the Twelfth Night ball, please also bring that with you.
