[Ponte Alto] There WILL be practice!!!!!

Greetings Max!

Thank you Max and thank you Kevin for both clarifying Max's real intent which was only good and valuable for the Barony. I know how, in the heat of the moment with time pressing, completely harmless ideas can be hastily phrased in ways that might perhaps hurt or offend someone without the slightest intention of doing so, and I am convinced that this was one of those unfortunate situations.

Over the years I have cancelled very very few heavy weapons practices in advance on account of the weather because by doing so I would be risking throwing away even a small but non-zero chance that we might still be able to have one. Had I to do this over again I would certainly have made a different decision, hoping that, as often happens, we would luck out with the weather even against 90% odds and be able to have our practice, at least for an hour or so. Fortunately in this case, I was happy to learn that thanks to Max's initiative and the weather unexpectedly holding, a number of gentles were able to get instruction, drill, slow work and have a nice time afterwards at Ledo's.

In the future, I think the Seneschal's suggestion that if the weather looks bad the night before a practice, Max, as the main instructor of the Scholarium and an alternate heavy marshal at practice, and I should confer by email or phone and decide on a course of action, and send out an email at that time if we are actually going to cancel it.

Yours in Service,

Duncan The Elder

FYI For any gentles who need to reach me by phone prior to a practice my cell phone number is (703)801-6867.
