Greetings & Salutations unto all whom may read these words! I, Baron Alejandro Mateo Ramirez, Deputy Kingdom Rapier Marshal for the Fair Kingdom of Atlantia, send Greetings! 

It is with great pride & pleasure to say that once again, the Kingdom of Atlantia will once again be holding its 5-man Melee Tournament at Pennsic on Tuesday, August 17th (that's the Tuesday of War Week), with myself as the Marshal in Charge! The List will open at High Noon, and close at 1:30pm, so that "Lay-on!" may be cried sharp at 2pm. Please do feel free to assemble your team at high noon on the Rapier Field with your respective authorization cards, choose a team name (or one will be chosen for you!) and present yourselves to the Mistress of the Lists, Meisterinde Ilse von Bremen. 

The Barony of Ponte Alto, Baron Marcellus & Baroness Belfebe, will be bringing forth hospitality for the Crown of Atlantia & Their invited Guests. If your Crown wishes to come & visit our Tournament, please do let us know ahead of time. 

This is traditionally one of the largest rapier Tournaments at Pennsic, and although my opinion is a bit biased, I think it's one of the most fun! 

The Tournament will be held in a double-elimination format, with the return again of the Wild Card Bear Pit, but this year with an improvement! If you get knocked out of the Tournament, don't give up yet. Go and enter one of the TWO bear pits that will be running on the side. When the Semi-Finals roll around for the Tournament, the Bear Pits will be frozen and the team left standing in each Bear Pit will fight it out for a chance to get into the Finals. 

Additionally, Atlantia's Academie d'Espee will be conducting business that day during breaks in the Tournament, as His Grace, Duke Ragnarr Blackhammer, Champion of Rapier to Her Majesty Padraigin, Regina Atlantia, will play his prize and so ascend to become Atlantia's newest Free Scholar. All Free Scholars, Cadets, Wards, and other friends are invited to come & test His Grace's skill with a rapier, and his suitability to become a Free Scholar of the Atlantian Academie d'Espee. More details on this will come soon. 

And really, if a double elimination with two bear pits and a prize playing isn't enough fighting for you, you should probably switch to decaf!

If you have any questions about these rules, please do not hesitate to contact me before the Tournament begins so that we may spend more time fighting and less time talking about the rules. This is especially true for the purposes of blowcalling, and Atlantia's new rules concerning modern items on the field (in a nutshell, please don't bring any modern items to the field that are not necessary for safety). 
It being Pennsic, and this being a set of Melees, there are a few things that I'd like our participants to keep in mind. 

1. Per the astute and laudable request from Their Majesties Cuan & Padraigin of Atlantia, this Tournament will be fought with a preference for heavy rapiers. If at all possible, please bring your schlagers, zamoranos, del tins, etc. If you are not authorized in heavy rapier, light rapiers are allowed and you ARE still welcome to enter but we encourage you to try & authorize in heavy rapiers before you get to Pennsic. 
2. No death from behind. Weapons fouling is permitted, but if they don't know you're there, please don't hit them. 
3. No missile weapons. No RBGs, no bows, no rocks, no dead animals or small chilluns. 
4. Please calibrate with your opponents before each & every bout, even if you've fought each other before. It serves as a good reminder of what level your opponent is fighing at. 
5. **This is a requirement** - In between each & every bout, go drink plenty of fluids. This Tournament will be fought in the middle of the day in the infamous Pennsic heat, and I'd much rather you be on the field fighting than at Chiurgeon's Point recovering from a heat related illness. 
6. If a member of your team is removed from the Tournament by the Marshallate for a violation of the Rules of the List, then your team may not continue. The violator will be asked to retire from the field, and the team may do pickups, but none of you may continue in the Tournament. 
7. Discourtesy in any fashion to the support staff (Ministers-of-the-List, waterbearers, heralds, chiurgeons, etc) will not be tolerated. You will be asked to retire from the field. The Mistress of the Lists has been given the authority to remove fighters from the field on these grounds, and I will enforce it. 

Enough with the ugly face!

8. Have fun! If you are not having fun in our Tournament, then we have failed as hosts and you should come notify me immediately so we can find some fun for you to have! 
9. As in years past, teams will be composed of any 5 rapier fighters but not more than two of those teammates can be members of any Kingdom's highest rapier order. 

We are definitely looking forward to the amazing displays of honor & prowess that typify this Tournament! In addition, a goodly prize will be awarded to the winning team members, as well as a prize to present to their Queen, on behalf of Atlantia. In addition, the support staff will be voting on Most Honorable Team that day! 

I invite all the bersaglieres, spadachinos, duellists, espadaderos, and civil swordsmen of all types to come and earn renown on the Pennsic field of Glory! In all lawful things, I stand ready to serve Atlantia.
