[Ponte Alto] The Names for new Awards

Greetings to all the Gentles of Ponte Alto,

Following up on the new award structure (from the Feb
2003 business meeting) with inserting a mid-level
award each for Service, Arts/Sciences, and Martial
activities, the Barony expressed its preference last
night at the March business meeting for the new names.

The following is a list of the three names chosen from
those proposed by members of the Barony.

First choice:

Fighting: Pont de Fer   (Award of the Iron Bridge)
A&S: Pont d’Argent   (Award of the Silver Bridge)
Service: Pont d’Or   (Award of the Gold Bridge)

Please note that although the original names chosen as
first choices were spelled in the French spelling, a
subsequent vote at the business meeting altered the
names to the Italian version to stay in keeping with
the Italian naming structure the Barony already
enjoys.  Guiliana has volunteered to provide the
correct Italian spelling for each of the choices, but
this doesn’t affect the concept.

Alternate choices: (should any of the first choices be
unable to be registered for some reason)

Fighting: Iron Helm
A&S: Azure Fleur de Lis
Service: Hourglass

The next step in this process is for the Barony to
indicate their preference for the heraldry for each of
the first choices names.  Please send heraldic device
suggestions, either in the heraldic terms, or in a
drawing, to Baron Ranulf at ghalstead at earthlink.net by
April 20th. Connor Sinclair at
connorsinclair at yahoo.com is also available for those
who need help drawing out the device they wish to
submit.

Once the suggestions are in, the Awards Committee will
make sure there are no known conflicts with existing
heraldry, and we will post the available choices on
the website.  Once they are posted, everyone will
again be asked to indicate their preferences via
e-mail, or at the business meeting, with the top
choices selected at the April 27th business meeting.
All tie breaker votes will be made at the business
meeting, so everyone who has a strong interest in this
issue is encouraged to attend.
