Rapier Field Schedule

This schedule is the final copy that will be published in the Pennsic
booklet. Any other changes will have to be made on site. Note that no
schedule changes should be made on site without coordinating them with me.

There have been a couple events dropped from the schedule due to the

battles will begin at noon and occur in that order. The Rapier Champions
battle is estimated to begin in the mid- to late-afternoon.

YOUTH RAPIER

The Midrealm will be holding youth rapier practices every morning at 11am
for one hour from Saturday, August 10th, to Thursday, August 15th. They will
have a tournament on Thursday the 15th at 1pm. Lady Moira MacGillavrey will
be coordinating the activities.

The details of the rapier events are provided below. Please note that the
details of the tournament can change, but these listings can provide an idea
of what to expect in a given event.

Aethelmearc Novice tourney: Open to combatants who have been authorized less
than three years and have never finished first or second in a tournament.
This tournament will be for foil/epee but may include schlaeger at the
marshal’s discretion. (Dona Elisa inn Rau Hara, Aethelmearc)

Academia Challenge: Once again The Academia invites all students of defence
to meet and test
their skill at arms.  This year will be a fund raiser for the Pennsic
Chirurgeons.  Each fighter will be asked to donate five silver pennies
(fifty cents) to enter the Challenge. There after the Challenge shall be
fought on the basis of a William Marshal tourney with the loser of each bout
having to ransom themselves back into the Challenge with another silver
penny, the first donation goes toward the first five bouts. Further rules
and limitations may be announced at the time of The Challenge to provide
more entertainment and test of prowess at arms. All blades and weapon styles
will be allowed. (Marshal in charge: Master Aelfred of Chester, Midrealm)

Ealdomere Tournament: This tournament will be schlaeger only, with other
format decisions announced prior to the start of the event. (Marshal in
charge: Wilhelm von Potruff, Ealdomere)

Seniors Tournament: This double-elimination tournament is restricted to
fighters over the age of 40. It will be fought with epee/foil as the default
but schlaeger welcome if both combatants agree.  Marshals will be awarding
recognition based on style as well as victories, and the finals of the
tournament will pit the winner of the double-elimination against the
combatant with the most “style”. (Marshal in charge: Don Nigel of Castle
West, East)

Aethelmearc Town Battle: The traditional town battle fought in the main
battlefield. This event will be foil/epee only. (Dona Elisa inn Rau Hara,
Aethelmearc)

Atlantian Five Man Melee Tournament: Atlantia invites all fencers to their
traditional round-robin Melee tournament! Five fencers to a team, with a lim
it of 3 White Scarves/ OGRs per team. Weapons will be epee only unless the
opposing teams have all their safety gear and authorizations for schlager
and elect that form. (Marshal in charge: Duke Logan Ebonwoulfe, Atlantia)

Aethelmearc Chiurgeon Fund Raiser: Come fight for a good cause! Details will
be made known on the field. (Dona Elisa inn Rau Hara, Aethelmearc)

Ansteorran Tournament: This tournament will be double elimination allowing
foil/epee and schlaeger. According to long standing tradition, dead is dead.
The tournament will feature the grace and pagentry that Ansteorra
traditionally brings to the field for their kingdom tournament. (Marshal in
charge: ??)

Schlaeger Woods Melee: This schlaeger only melee will be fought in the woods
and will feature an “interesting” scenario, which will be announced at the
time of the battle to preserve the surprise. (Marshals in charge: Warden
Cecil DuPont and Warder Christian Fournier)

East Kingdom Tournament: This tournament will feature the traditional round
robin to double-elimination format, with all weapon forms welcome. (Marshal
in charge: Mistress Brita Mairi Svensdottir, East)

Atenveldt Tournament: Aten Mixed Melee Madness - everyone enters, everyone
fights. And fights. And fights. You die and you get to go back and try
again. Starting teams of five are determined randomly (or five can enter as
a group). Lay on has all the teams on the field at the same time. As
individual fighters "die" they must go back to the central resurrection
point. As soon as 5 fighters have hit the res. point, they must enter the
field as a "new" team. This madness continues for 45 minutes, then the res.
point closes and the mixed up mess of teams fight it out till only one team
(or what's left of it) remains standing. Purpose: To kill and be killed; a
lot!!! Fight against and with friends and complete strangers. Impress the
girls (or the boys) who will be watching you. Win prizes. Sweat a lot!!!
(Marshal in charge: Don Wallace le Casse', Atenveldt)

Home Game Melee: The Home Game is played for a number of points. One point
for getting the "ball" (a duffle full of chain armor) into the opponent's
goal. Some of the ground rules (DFB, etc) may be altered for some games to
mix things up. This game will be fought with schlaeger however an epee
version will be happily provided if the participants would like it. (Marshal
in charge: Warder Alexander de Seton, Midrealm)

Round Robin Melee: This tournament will be schlaeger only, and will be
scored on points based on the skill of the team defeated. A fighter
authorized in one or two forms is worth a single point, three or more is two
points, and if they hold their kingdom rapier award, that adds an additional
point. A given team may be worth no more than ten points. (Marshal in
charge: Warder Cecil du Pont)

Known World Rapier Party: The annual party and get-together will continue
its long tradition this year, beginning after dark at the Sharc Pit
encampment near the North Gate (the same location as the past few years).
