Hello all....

Here is the deal. It has now been suggested to me by BOTH hosts of
Saturday's events that I should not cancel the garb sewing day this Saturday.
So, being brand new to SCA, I will graciously accept their advice and will
reinstate the sewing plans for this Saturday (July 20th).

Because of the Revel (which I wish to attend myself :^ ), I would like to
move up the sewing time for this Saturday to be 11 am to 4pm. That should
give us plenty of time to make some headway on our projects, and allow those
of us who wish to attend the revel to get ready. Monday will be the same
time (11am to 4pm). Although there are no SCA conflicts, I have been
offered this GREAT opportunity to take a "behind the scenes" tour of the new
''Quest for Immortality' exhibit at the National Gallery, given by the
curator, on Monday evening. There's no way that I'm missing that!

If you come on Saturday and wish to leave your equipment set up, etc. for
Monday, please feel free to do so.

So that you don't have to rummage through all the original emails for
directions and other details about the day, I have reposted the reminder
note, below....

Please forgive me for any confusion or inconvenienve this has caused you.

Happy sewing!
Regina

=============================  original reminder post =============
Greetings to all garb-deficient Pennsic attendees!

London was a wonderful adventure. I both hated leaving and couldn't wait to
get home. I spent several hours in the Victoria and Albert museum, browsing
through 100's of their wonderful 'almost hands on' library of textile
fragments. What a collection!

... and now that I am back and looking upon my daunting pile of fabric, I am
reminded to remind you that I am hosting a two day sewing gathering at my
house in Alexandria, VA. The dates are this Saturday (7/20) and Monday
(7/22). I have repasted the original message at the bottom of this email.

Please RSVP to ArtsOfPalm at aol.com if you can come. Also, let me know if you
can bring supplies. We are in need of up to 3 sewing machines, perhaps an
extra ironing board and iron, and, OH yes! Oddly enough, I do not have any
full length mirrors! If it is convenient for one of you to bring one along,
let me know.

Regina

_____________________ORIGINAL MESSAGE _____________________

It is my pleasure to offer the humble hospitality of my home for the purpose
of preparing garb for Pennsic. Because of the nuisance involved with
'setting up' the sewing machines, cutting board and other paraphenalia, I
will host the garb prep on two closely timed days; Saturday, July 20th and
Monday, July 22nd. On both days, you are invited to come any time after 1pm
and stay for as long as you need (or 10pm, whichever comes first :^ ).

I have the following suitable arrangements for garb prep:
1 sewing machine, already set up.
1 ironing board and iron. (I don't have any ironing accessories other
than a squirt bottle)
1 cutting board, large enough for cutting full length dresses, and raised
to standing height.
1 spare desk, sturdy enough for a 'jostling' sewing machine.
2 card tables that could be used for sewing machines.
    lots of sitting space
a telephone... perhaps the handiest of all devices, with which we could
call 'ye olde pizza dude' in the event we get hungry (particularly if you
head here instead of commuting home and back again.)

If you are interested in joining us, please write to me and tell me which
days you would plan to arrive, and whether you would be able to bring helpful
items such as sewing machines. (Conversely, no need for 10 people to bring
sewing machines when there are only 3 extra places to put them.). I am
leaving for London in 2 days. So, please be patient about my writing back to
you.

DIRECTIONS: Please note that parking is a bit touchy around here. You may
not use any spots that are 'numbered', as these are reserved for the
residents. In addition to the limited number of 'open' parking spots, people
park along the road in front of the houses, which is first come, first serve.

My address is 5876 Langton Drive, Alexandria VA. To get to my house, take
the Beltway to exit 176 Van Dorn Street. Make a right onto Van Dorn. Make a
right at the second traffic light (Crown Royal). Make a left at the first
stop sign (I think that's Heatherwood something... ). Make the next right
onto Langton Drive. I am almost at the end of the block; the end unit on the
right side of the mail boxes.

My phone number is 703 922-2937.

Happy Sewing!
