Greetings to you, Ponte Alto!

My heartfelt thanks go to the following generous members for showing their
support at the demo on May 11th! Feline von Behren, Aislynn of Jarrow,
Sorcha de Glys, Elizabeth of Hadley Hall, Ailleann O'Meighan, Cainder
O'Meighan, and Lemona the Fool from the East Kingdom!

The next demo is at Floris Elementary in Herndon on May 30th from 1:30 to
3pm. (Please arrive at 1:15.) So far we have Marcellus, Belphoebe and Kevin
on the list of volunteers. If you are available for this demo, please let
me know. We picked this date at the last business meeting to make it more
convenient for us, so I hope for more "yea's". A map to the school can be
found at http://www.fcps.edu/maps/floris.htm.

I would like to announce the INTERBARONIAL DEMO WEBPAGE! Here is an except
that you will find at http://www.geocities.com/scademoteam/, your new source
for info. on demos in this area!
"Two chapters of the Society for Creative Anachronism in Northern
Virginia, the Barony of Stierbach and the Barony of Ponte Alto, have set up
this webpage to share information about upcoming demos in the area, as well
as to form a central point of contact for information about how to get a
demo organized in the local area.
"From here, you can visit a calendar of upcoming demos, let us know when
you're available to assist with demos (and what you'd like to help with),
read about the wonderful folks who've helped out with recent demos, or even
request a demo. We hope to add a photo album of past demos to this website
as well."

I am very excited about this prospect and hope that it will be a useful tool
for you! Since many of us work and live in different groups, it will be
nice to see what is going on in other groups. Already, we have received one
demo request from a girl scout troop in Sterling via the webpage. Be sure
to visit and check out the calendar, demo volunteer sheet and thank you's.

Thank you again for your time and consideration. You are truly generous and
kind gentles.

For the "education" in "not-for-profit, educational organization",
Sorcha de Glys

Future demos include:
We've been invited to participate in the Nokesville Day Parade (a very SHORT
parade) and then have a demo of fighting, fencing, and possibly other skills
and talents within the SCA.
The parade begins at 11:00 AM, but plan to arrive by 10:00 AM to get
parking. SCA equestrians, take note: you can ride your horse in the parade!
After the parade is over, you can go back to your cars to get your gear for
the demo, which will get started around 12:30 PM or 1:00 PM. The demo will
take place in the parking lot of the old Southern States (now a satellite
dish sales place) by the train tracks. If you plan to display crafts, plan
to bring a table; chairs or benches would also be useful things to bring
(especially if you plan to play a musical instrument. I recommend not
bringing large instruments since it looks like we're going to have to carry
it to the demo spot after the parade.

The planning committee would also love if even after the demo winds down, we
could wander around in costume. This will be a personal preference, and you
don't have to, but I know I love being seen in my costume, so I hope others
will too. Also if you have chain mail, or something that you can wear or
carry that people could ask you about, this would be good too.
