Marginalia/Drollery Competition
Sponsored by the Office of the Clerk Signet
12th Night - January 13th - Windmasters' Hill

>From the earliest times, creative (or simply bored) illuminators took
>to
adding marginal figures to the borders of their work. Examples
include animals, figures of scribes and illuminators at work, people
(or mice) "stealing" words from the text. This year's competition
will focus on the use of marginalia/drolleries in Kingdom level
scrolls. There will be a number of prizes awarded, including Best in
Show, Best Novice effort (1 year or less experience), Most
Humorous,
Best Historiated Initial, and Best use of figures that are directly
related to either the award (for example, hedgehogs frolicking in the
water on a Sea Urchin scroll) or to the recipient. Other prizes may
be awarded as well. Actual scrolls are preferred, but color copies
will be accepted under certain conditions. Have your entries in
place
by 1:30pm. Documentation STRONGLY recommended.
