<P><BR>>At Pennsic, this year, we will be giving Pennsic authorizations in
</P></DIV>
<DIV></DIV>>rapier for youths ages 14-17. This means that youth from any
<DIV></DIV>>kingdom may become authorized for youth rapier activities at
<DIV></DIV>>Pennsic. Since this is through the Midrealm, we will be using
<DIV></DIV>>schlagers. Armor and weapons inspections will follow regular
<DIV></DIV>>Pennsic rules for rapier. Youth practices will be held daily
<DIV></DIV>>starting on the middle Sunday, Aug. 10 and going through
Thursday,
<DIV></DIV>>Aug. 14th, culminating in a tourney at noon on the 14th. (These
<DIV></DIV>>practices may be expanded if enough interest is shown.) Youths
<DIV></DIV>>should meet daily at the rapier field marshal's tent and bring a
<DIV></DIV>>parent and membership card the first day they participate.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>Even though the tourney will be by Midrealm rules, we will be
<DIV></DIV>>working with youth on negotiating conventions during practices,
such
<DIV></DIV>>as tip cuts and push cuts, during the week to help them prepare
for
<DIV></DIV>>future Pennsic and interkingdom events. Also, note that there
will
<DIV></DIV>>be no sparring between youths and adults at Pennsic, due to
<DIV></DIV>>Pennsylvania law.
<DIV></DIV>>
<DIV></DIV>>We will also be demonstrating using boffers as a rapier training
<DIV></DIV>>tool on Wednesday morning, Aug. 13th. There will be a class and
<DIV></DIV>>tourney at the boffer field at 9 a.m.
