<HTML><BODY STYLE="font:10pt verdana; border:none;"><DIV>Just some things to think about:</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Only a court of law can find someone guilty of a crime, until then they are presumed innocent. Even if you don't like the individual. We are too quick to condem people by rumors within our Society, especialy if they are a strong individual. Most of the things I read on the Count's webpage would not make it in court. (Most, not all)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>If accusations within a "social club" (Which we are.) have a adverse effect on a indiviual (Such as R&B), and are not true, then they can sue the "club" and the individuals for slander. In California and most of the west coast, most of the cases of slander go to the person slandered, exspecialy if the accusations are in wrighting and are proven to be secound hand, changed at a latter date, or if enough individuals come forward to counter as first hand witnesses. This usually results in the Dues of the individuals in the club to climb due to the lawsuit. (This is bad.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>We are not a corporation, although we have some of the qualities of such. We are basically a not for profit social club, and we have a beurocracy. Now it is far easier for a beurocracy to say no to something, or ignore it. The fact that the BoD did act is saying something. (Although I would take the information printed on this case from both sides and divide it in half and that might be the truth.)</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>The BoD's biggest power is the fact that we are so big. Leaving and starting a new "Club" is silly, we all like lots of people to play with. Distance between Kingdoms also helps because who want's to fly to California to argue a small point, easier to gripe at home.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>As the BoD is still the top of our "Beurocracy" they should still be held with a little distrust. After 20 years in the Navy, I have come to distrust all beurocracy's as they will always take the easier way, not necessarily the right one. (Compromise or give in to the largest loudest group.) It is not that they plot, conspire, or are part of the Illuminati, this is just the way beurocratic councils are. One of my friends is on the BoD, a good guy, but when he dones his BoD turbin I get the garlic and stakes. Never totaly trust any group that has power over you, or do you trust the Government totaly?</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>Also, U.S. copy write laws about names do not necessarily applie in other countries. Japan is notorius for that. So someone in Japan could break away and call itself the SCA, as could a lot of other countries. </DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <DIV>However, this has been a very brisk interesting discussion.</DIV> <DIV> </DIV> <BLOCKQUOTE style="BORDER-LEFT: #000000 2px solid; MARGIN-LEFT: 5px; MARGIN-RIGHT: 0px; PADDING-LEFT: 5px; PADDING-RIGHT: 0px"> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial">----- Original Message -----</DIV> <DIV style="BACKGROUND: #e4e4e4; COLOR: black; FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>From:</B> Hank Harwell</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>Sent:</B> Friday, February 01, 2002 7:42 PM</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>To:</B> atlantia@atlantia.sca.org</DIV> <DIV style="FONT: 10pt Arial"><B>Subject:</B> Re: [MR] Curiosity</DIV> <DIV> </DIV>This was meant for the entire list, and due to someone not paying<BR>attention to the reply settings, sent it to an individual instead.<BR><BR>Brother Cleireac of Inisliath<BR><BR>Do not be afraid, for we have God as our guide and helper.
