How do you know the evidence is hearsay? How do you know
no defense was offered? Unless you are a) Aveloc or b) a board member, you
cannot answer these questions accurately. The only information I have seen
that has purported to come from the Board (with the exception of the An Tir
Senechal's post earlier) is on Aveloc's site- the person affected by this.
Immediately, that information is biased. It doesn't matter whose site it
is-- I believe it an automatic instinct to skew facts to present one's
self in the best light. Unless the transcripts are made public record,
which I believe they shouldn't considering the nature of some of the claims, we
have no way of accurately judging the worth of the claims against
Aveloc.

with a minimum of disruption.

As long as we
maintain the status quo as it is dictated to us by the BoD. The problem with
this is that the SCA functions as a corporation, where all power lies with the
board. The major difference in this particular corporation is that it exists
to serve its members, and not the other way around. Without the service and
sacrifice of the individual members, the structure ceases to be. That should
give us more than the usual amount of interest in things.
I'm not
necessarily trying to defend Aveloc. Many of the allegations made against him
I have no first hand knowledge of. I have only stated the facts that I know.
I'm not ready to accuse the BoD of being power mad, maniacal egotists just
yet. My issue with this is the way in which it was done. The lack of due
process. The use of hearsay evidence. The fact that no real defense was
allowed to be offered. The fact that the timing is just a tiny bit suspect.
Ultimately the issue of whether Aveloc is guilty or not is irrelevant. The
opinions of the masses on the subject is irrelevant. There is no way for
anyone in the present structure to challenge the decision of the BoD. I think
that needs to be fixed.

Hrothgar
