my goodness, this certainly has become a hot issue, rather than just a matter
of common sense...i remember several years ago, prior to my joining the sca,
when i was 7 months pregnant...it was august, i was obviously "in the family
way", and struggling with a 25 pound bag of cat litter at a local grocery
store...there were not only several abled bodied persons around, but store
employees, none of which offered to help me lift this incredibly cumbersome
package into my car...i did what i felt was the best course of action--i
asked someone who did not work there to help, and was kindly aided...then i
spoke to the store manager about his employee's lack of assistance...there is
of course no real recourse that i can think of at an event--kindly inform me
if there is...but if someone chooses to not assist, that does not make them
an evil ogre--maybe they are preoccupied, perhaps they are just plain rude or
can't be bothered...whatever...believe me, i am very new to the sca and have
had no trouble simply asking someone if i had a little too much on my
plate...and there are always people milling about, not engaged in activities
of their own or in intense conversations that you may be
interrupting...someone will respond...it's nice when someone offers prior to
your having to ask...but if it does not happen, go to plan
"b"--ask...isabella
