have fun, get what they want and find satisfaction from the working with
the Heralds. It's all about customer service.

If you really think the submission process is that difficult, then please go
find your local herald and ask him or her to explain it to you again, as many
times as it takes. I'm afriad that public outcries like this agaisnt the CoH
and the submission guidelines are one of the reasons why a large segment of
people think it is impossible to get their device or name passed and are
afraid to try.

If you want to register your device, we ask that you use the proper forms
that the CoH provides. Why? Becuase of the sheer volume of forms that we
recieve, we *need* to have some kind of standard. Imagine the headache if
Golden Dolphin, at her LoI meeting, had to work with submissions scribbled on
napkins, filled out on legal pads, submitted on floppy disk, scrawled on the
back of a Cherrios box, etc. How would submitters know what information the
Heralds needed? Image the number of needless returns, and imagine how long
this would extend the submission process. No, I think having a standard form
to adhere to is great customer service. Especially since these forms are so
widely available. Your local herald should have them. Any at-large herald
should have them. If you can't find a herald, they are on line at the
Atlantian Herald's page in.
http://herald.atlantia.sca.org

We ask that you fill these out best you can, color them in with color-fast
mediums (such as the ubiquitously common Crayola markers, crayons,
etc.--please note that there are certain mediums that Golden Dolphin will not
allow because they have proven to be so completely unstable in coloration,
but no list of "you must use this.") If you are uncomfortable filling them
out, your herald will help you. A lot of heralds will take the time to do
them for you. Customer service?

The College of Heralds even tells you how many copies you need to submit.
This is largely because it is easier for you to make 3 or 4 copies of your
form than it is for Golden Dolphin to make 3 or 4 copies of 40 forms.

You give that to your local herald, with payment, and the CoH takes it from
there. the CoH does the work to ensure that your submission is a)
heraldically correct, b) unique enough in design so as not to conflict with
anyone else's device, and c) give it a proper blazon that describes the
device you submitted. All this, plus it will protect the uniqueness of your
device by ensuring that no other device gets submitted that may conflict with
it. Yeah, it may take a few months, but again, remember we are all
volunteers who do this because we like to.

And if ever you have questions about the submission process, please ask your
local herald. It's their job to help you understand them. And they are
published on line for all to read, very understandable. You can access them
any time.
