[MR] Mørstad Hoard Passes 4,000 Coins

Noble Friends,

A recently discovered coin hoard near Mørstad, Norway, just keeps getting
bigger and bigger. Originally discovered by metal detecting through a
handful of coins brought to the surface by plowing, the hoard soon passed
2,000. Now the total is over 4,000, with 70 or more coins still being
discovered using heavy equipment to reach beyond the surface range of metal
detectors.

The coins have been largely silver, and most date to the 11th century. The
majority were minted in Norway and were circulated for the notational
value, rather than foreign coins that were often broken apart during
trading.
